First, if you are interested in this coffee maker.Buy the EC-BD15.Amazon has it for about $68 and free shipping.It is the same as the EC-BD15BA.We bought the EC-BD15.OurEC-BD15 had an inserted sheet in the instruction manual that corrects the manual by replacing the #3 filter wording for the #4 filter wording.The #4 filter fits fine, no cutting or anything.Apparently the the EC-BD15BA has the wording corrected in the manual and prints it on the box.If that is worth the difference in cost then go for it.It really just looks like a translation problem for the American market that uses #4 filters.
The coffee maker is exactly 15 inches tall.So make sureyou have room under a cabinet if you store it there. My wife says the coffee stays hotter than in our old Mr Coffee thermal model. This caraffe is unbreakable because it is solid steel.No glass insert like our old Mr Coffee.

It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served. +PLUS+ - Durgol Swiss Espresso is a special decalcifier which decalcifies all types and brands of espresso machines at the highest level of quality. Compared to vinegar and competing descaling solutions, Durgol IS far more efficient and effective at removing scale build up. Durgol Decalcifying Liquid is also recommended by Capresso for many Capresso Coffee/Espresso Machines (check your manual for recommendations).

Mr. Coffee FTTX95 10-Cup Programmable Thermal Coffeemaker, Black/Stainless Review

First the good:
--It looks nice sitting on your counter.
--The beeping sound to signify the end of the brewing cycle is nice.

Now the bad:
--You will never get anything but a warm cup of coffee out of this coffee maker.And if you add milk or cream to your coffee, the result is lukewarm at best.You will aways have to put your coffee in the microwave.This is true no matter how close you follow the directions, and no matter how creative you get. Even if you remove the carafe from the unit after the brewing cycle is completed, your coffee will only be warm. The instruction manual says to completely fill the carafe with very hot water and let it sit for 10 minutes before brewing in order to heat up the carafe.Okay, during the morning rush to get out to work, who has time to let their kitchen faucet run for a few minutes to get hot water (especially in the winter) and then wait for 10 minutes with the water in the carafe and then wait for the brewing cycle to end?
--The carafe is stainless steel - no glass lining (which is the best insulation material)Not sure who the genius is that thinks stainless steel is an insulator.
--The Pause-and-serve mechanism broke on the third day.I went to pull out the carafe to grab a cup and coffee came splashing down all over my hand.
--This isn't a huge deal but the clock is so bright I'm fairly certain it could serve as a beacon to guide large ships sailing past rocky coast lines.

Cuisinart Compact Coffee Maker 10-Cup Thermal Carafe Review

I normally buy only items that have many reviews and 4 or 5 stars.This coffee maker had only two reviews but I decided to take a chance especially since it could be returned within 30 days.Even though most thermal coffee makers had many good reviews, there were too many negatives for each.I am very happy with this on so far.I have not had any of the problems as with other types--coffee is hot, stays hot for quite some time, doesn't leak, easy pouring and cleaning, the coffee is good with not plastice taste, carafe fits properly.It does beep when the coffee is done brewing.Compact size is nice.I have not used the timer and probably never will.The best part is that there is a 3 year warranty --I hope it lasts that long!
