I'm a coffee lover but there was always something about the coffee brewed at home that was'nt quite right.NO MORE.This thing makes 12 cups of outstanding coffee in just about 3 minutes. Zojirushi ECBD15 Fresh Brew Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker w/ Decalcifier Review

Zojirushi ECBD15 Fresh Brew Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker w/ DecalcifierFirst, if you are interested in this coffee maker.Buy the EC-BD15.Amazon has it for about $68 and free shipping. It is the same as the EC-BD15BA.We bought the EC-BD15.OurEC-BD15 had an inserted sheet in the instruction manual that corrects the manual by replacing the #3 filter wording for the #4 filter wording. The #4 filter fits fine, no cutting or anything.Apparently the the EC-BD15BA has the wording corrected in the manual and prints it on the box.If that is worth the difference in cost then go for it.It really just looks like a translation problem for the American market that uses #4 filters.
The coffee maker is exactly 15 inches tall.So make sureyou have room under a cabinet if you store it there. My wife says the coffee stays hotter than in our old Mr Coffee thermal model. This caraffe is unbreakable because it is solid steel. No glass insert like our old Mr Coffee.

Product Description:
Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket. To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served. +PLUS+ - Durgol Swiss Espresso is a special decalcifier which decalcifies all types and brands of espresso machines at the highest level of quality. Compared to vinegar and competing descaling solutions, Durgol IS far more efficient and effective at removing scale build up. Durgol Decalcifying Liquid is also recommended by Capresso for many Capresso Coffee/Espresso Machines (check your manual for recommendations).

Technivorm KBT-741 Moccamaster Polished Silver Coffee Maker 1.25-L. Review

Technivorm KBT-741 Moccamaster Polished Silver Coffee Maker 1.25-L.I love coffee. For the past year, I've been immersed in the technical and chemical artistry (and it truly is) of home roasting my own coffee and perfecting the brewing process to take advantage of total control and total freshness.Up to now, I've made my single cups using a thermostatically controlled water kettle and a cone drip device which allows me to control the "steep" time of the water at the proper temperature. But what to do when guests come over?

The overwhelming consensus is that the TechniVorm (TV) is the Rolls Royce of batch coffee makers.I got one as a gift and I agree.

We all know that cheap coffee makers cannot supply brewing temperature water at the desired 203F.My Mr. Coffee, for example, was 169F at the brewhead.More on this in a minute.

The coffee maker comes assembled and requires only that the brewhead wand, filter basket and covers be installed. The water chamber is clear plastic with cup level markings on the side.I have not measured the "cup" volumes yet but I suspect they are consistent with a 6 oz. cup size. The coffee measure with the TV is said to make two cups per scoop, which is fairly accurate as a starting point. The filter basket, basket cover and water chamber cover are black plastic. The brewhead wand is stainless steel.

The TV is simple enough to use.Placing the filter basket on a plastic support is a no-brainer except that it helps to notice that the handle should go in front facing you, not to either side. This is because the basket is wedge shaped at the bottom to accommodate the #4 cone filters used, and the brewhead wand is designed to distribute water along the length of the bottom wedge. There are nine holes in the brewhead which distribute water effectively onto the coffee.

Taking a closer look at the TV, it is obvious that one of the reasons it achieves the proper high brewing temperature is that the siphon from the heating chamber passes through an outer plastic tube which effectively insulates the heated water from the cold unheated water in the water chamber. This is the main design flaw with cheaper coffee makers. The TV also has two heating coils rather than one to help maintain a high enough water temperature.

Additional control is provided with a three-position switch on the side of the filter basket. The positions are full flow (although the hole is quite small), partial flow and closed. My brewing so far has been to leave the switch open, as I'm brewing 10-cup batches and use a rather fine grind which extends the drip time.I have not yet made 2-cup batches, but I will plan to close the switch completely to enable a 4-minute steep time before releasing the coffee into the carafe.Note that the grind is a major variable here since fine grind will slow the water considerably over a coarser grind.I use a burr grinder which can be controlled easily. If you use a blade grinder, plan on a very fine grind and longer brew times.

Since I use home roasted coffee, my coffee is extremely fresh after a customary 4-day rest period.Very fresh coffee will give off CO2 which causes some foaming on the surface. This could be a problem if you are brewing 10-cup batches with a full filter and you restrict the flow with the second position on the filter basket switch, so beware.Commercial coffee, especially pre-ground, will not usually foam as it has already begun to stale.I would recommend brewing with the filter basket cover removed until you get a feel for how the water flows through your coffee.Overflow is certainly possible but not likely with the switch fully open, and my 10-cup batches with very fresh coffee came only to 1/2" of the top of the filter basket. If you get an overflow, then, you either have ground the coffee too finely and/or you are using filters that are too restrictive.I use Filtropia and Melitta, preferring the former.

The power is controlled by a single switch. The light on the switch stays on following brewing, but the coils shut off automatically at the end of a brewing cycle and the brew light goes out. There is no timer, which is often a complaint if you're too lazy to grind and brew when you wake up.I always grind fresh and brew with fresh water and it takes only 60 seconds to fill the chamber, grind a couple of scoops of coffee and press the button.I prefer this to having a chamber full of stale water overnight.

The stainless steel carafe is a vacuum carafe and is perhaps the weakest link.I cannot imagine using a glass carafe with this machine, as coffee temperature is the whole purpose of the design, and an uninsulated glass carafe is good only to keep the coffee from spilling on the counter! This carafe keeps coffee hot for hours.Pouring is the only issue I might have here. The pour lip has no dimple and if you pour with the screw-in lid, it can spread a bit along the lip and cause some spilling. On the other hand, if you loosen the lid, turn it to the proper 1/4 positions and pour slowly, the coffee comes out leaving a nice ring of fresh-coffee bubbles inside the rim of the cup. This may well have been intended, as everything else on this device is well engineered.Just don't get in a real hurry to pour with the lid on.You can, of course remove the lid to pour.

Overall, the best of the best with the vacuum carafe.

Product Description:
The Technivorm Moccamaster KBT-741 Clubline brewer is a simple, precise and elegant electric drip brewer. No gadgets here. This is a handmade coffeemaker built in Holland. The main asset of the Moccamaster is its ability to maintain perfect brewing temperature throughout the entire brewing cycle, an attribute that has earned it certification from at least two coffee trade associations. This is a quality product, done simply. It uses an independent energy-efficient heat exchanger that brews directly into the stainless-steel-lined ThermoJug server. That means your coffee maintains an optimal temperature between 194 and 204??F. A consistent temperature is key to preservingthe flavors and aromas of coffee, and this machine does just that.It also brews a full pot in 5-6 minutes. The Technivorm Thermal takes an exceptional machine ??? the Technivorm Clubline KB 741 ??? and improves upon it by replacing a hot plate with a thermal carafe. There???s a reason that Technivorm has created 1 of only 2 machines that meet the Specialty Coffee Association of America???s (SCAA) certification standards, and that???s because its design preserves the entire spectrum of flavors in every cup. Water is heated and passes through the coffee consistently, brewing quickly and quietly. It is also approved by the European Coffee Brewing Centre (ECBC) and Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Only a handful

DeLonghi DCF212T Drip Coffeemaker with Convenient Front Access Review

DeLonghi DCF212T Drip Coffeemaker with Convenient Front AccessWhen my $100 coffee maker quit, I researched coffee makers and found this model from DeLonghi I hadn't heard of before. The design of this model sets a new standard for on-the-counter coffee makers. It is incredible to be able to put the filter, coffee, AND WATER in the maker without moving the machine. The caraffe doesn't drip when pouring into the swing out arm (or into the cup later) so there's no messy drips to wipe up at any time.
The digital clock isn't the quickest to set since you have to hold a button in as it changes in minutes only, but hopefully that won't need set often.
The "aroma" button really works! There actually is a difference in the brewing aroma with it on.
Most importantly, the end product was a great cup of coffee! I'm thrilled with the coffee maker and haven't found a single negative aspect yet, including the price. I HIGHLY recommend this model.Kudos Delonghi, you really outdid yourself here. Amazon's shipping was simple and fast. The whole purchasing experience was exceptional.A+++++

Krups FMF5 Coffee Maker Review

Krups FMF5 Coffee MakerI bought this Krups to replace a beloved Krups thermal carafe that sadly passed on. This new model features too many flaws. For one, the swing-open filter door doesn't always engage. Minor issue. If you pour your water into the machine too quickly, bubbles can form in the window, so you're never quite sure how much is in the machine. Further, my model always seems to leak both water and brewed coffee from the bottom of the machine. Granted, it's only the size of a quarter or half-dollar, but you don't expect this from a Krups. Finally, the carafe, itself, pours so broadly that leaks are inevitable. Sadly, this product does not live up to the Krups' reputation.

Product Description:
Combining appealing and distinctive design with a powerful, fully programmable brewing system, this 1100-watt coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups of coffee quickly and efficiently. Along with its bright, blue, illuminated LCD display, the unit's control panel offers simple push-button functions including "on/off", a fully programmable clock, a programmable timer/auto-on from one to five hours, and an aroma switch that can be set to maximize flavor for one to three cups when less coffee is desired. With a no-drip spout and a generous handle for easy pouring, the unit's double-wall stainless-steel vacuum carafe maintains flavor and temperature longer. A popular pause-and-serve function allows for pouring a cup midbrew, and an audible signal indicates when brewing is complete. The appliance includes a soft-eject swing-out filter holder for easily adding ground coffee, as well as a magnified water-level indicator for high visibility. The machine's 60-ounce water reservoir provides a built-in water filtration system that removes chlorine and lime scale build-up to ensure better tasting coffee and longer machine life, while its automatic electronic de-scaling indicator measures brew time and calculates when de-scaling is necessary. BUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black Review

BUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, BlackI will not bore you with all of the exact specifics of this coffee brewer. There are plenty of other reviews here on AmazonBUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black or check the Bunn website for additional info here:http://www.bunnomatic.com/retail/products/b.html

This Bunn BX-B 10-cup coffe brewer is a pricey but fantastic coffee maker for your home or small office.I bought one for my office, so that I can make myself a quick pot of coffee when I get to work or whenever someone stops by to visit my office during the day. This machine makes coffe FAST and the flavor of the coffee is always consistent.Although I have never found many of the Bunn coffee makers to be much of a fashion statement, this unit is fairly high-tech looking, with its black and stainless color combination.Since the water flows out of this unit so quickly, using a showerhead type spray pattern, I highly suggest that you always use genuine Bunn coffee filters as the store brand filters are usually not tall enough, causing the ground coffee to splash up and over the edge of the shorter filters.

One noteable difference between this and most previous pour-over Bunn models is that this unit does not require the use of a seperate water pitcher. You simply fill your coffee pot with water, lift the little door on the top/front of the unit and pour your water in.The most important step is to place the coffee pot on the warmer plate, being sure to center it properly, before lowering the door on the top of the coffee maker. As soon as you lower the door the water will start to flow quickly. If you lower the door before you place the pot underneath, you will likely end up with a bit of a mess. Also, I recommend that you insert your filter and pour in your measured amount of ground coffee before pouring water into the Bunn, because even with the door up I find that some water tends to drip from the output nozzle, causing water to drip down onto the warmer plate.I fill my pot with water, set it aside while installing my filter and ground coffee, then pour in my water, center the pot on the warmer plate and then lower the door. This has produced proper function every time, without any mess to clean up.

My likes and dislikes are as follows:

Pros:
*****
-Makes a pot of coffee in only 3 minutes or less!
-Consistent coffee flavor with every pot
-No need to use a seperate water pitcher as with previous Bunn models
-Simplistic operation that anyone can handle
-Easy to clean and maintain
-Pleasing black and stainless steel design
-Build quality seems to be much higher than many other coffee makers

Cons:
*****
-No automatic shutoff (could pose hazzard if warmer plate is left on over the weekend)
-No timer feature for brewing coffee at a set time
-No temperature control for the warmer plate (it gets VERY hot!)
-If you don't use it for several days some of the water evaporates from the hot water tank
-Must use genuine Bunn coffee filters, which are not always easy to find
-Pricey for a basic coffee maker

The cons are somewhat minor but the lack of an automatic shutoff really bothers me.I ended up purchasing a seperate digital appliance timer, which I plug the Bunn coffee maker into, so that I can set power on and off times. This way I don't have to worry about leaving the warmer plate turned on over night or over the weekend.Overall I am extremely happy with my Bunn BX-B coffee brewer. It is easy to use and makes a great tasting pot of coffee in just under 3 minutes. It is also a great device for producing plain hot water. If you exclude the filter and coffee this unit produces a pot of very hot water in less time than it takes to make the normal pot of coffee. This is great for making instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, instant oatmeal, etc.The BX-B carries a pretty hefty price tag (as all Bunn models do), but it is built well and makes excellent coffee in a flash. If you believe that time is money (as I do), then the Bunn BX-B is worth every penny for all of the time you'll save.=o)

Black & Decker DLX1050B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, Black Review

Black and Decker DLX1050B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, BlackI picked out this coffee maker because of a reasonable price and was a recommended best buy in Consumers Report magazine. I have only had a week or so and can't address long term reliability. What it does do is NOT DRIP! It does not drip when pouring from the glass pot to the water reservoir or when pouring coffee into a cup. I do NOT have to be extra careful when pouring. It also stops the coffee flow from the filter as soon as I pull the pot out and does NOT drip on the warmer. Again, do NOT have to be extra careful here. It also does NOT leak condensation out of the water reservoir top when lifting the lid. The condensation on the reservoir lid drips back into the reservoir when the lid is lifted. The time and delay brew functions ARE easy to set and work fine. The coffee brewed fairly quickly and did not overflow the filter to allow grounds into the pot. So far, I am very happy with a product that someone spent some time making user friendly and practical. This is a well engineered inexpensive product.
