Technivorm KBT-741 Moccamaster Black Coffee Maker 1.25-L. Review

I've owned this machine for over two years. It is beautifully designed and well made. I love the look. Is the coffee brewed by this machine THAT much better, given its lofty price? Nope, not to my taste. The thermal carafe does not keep the coffee near brewing temperature for long, even after tempering the carafe for 15 minutes with boiling water.The first cup is excellent, but anything after the first cup grows steadily tepid. Might just as well use a press pot, which certainly allows the best expression of fresh ground beans. My Technivorm machine still works well, but for my morning coffee I am replacing it with a basic glass-carafed maker with heat element (Capresso MG600).

Are you tired of parts made of plastic and not real metal? This coffee maker is made of genuine brushed stainless.If the part on this machine looks like metal, it is metal.The overall look and style is very European, even the buttons and display are good quality and simple to use and understand.The carafe is stainless inside and out, and keeps the coffee hot for at least 4 hours.The water resevoir lifts out for easily filling from the tap, so you don't have to fill the carafe first and pour it into the machine.The resavoir has graduated markings.Also, the filter holder comes out for easy cleaning.The only quirk I found is that, as with other themal carafes, you have to pour slowly to keep from dripping.It also helps to read the manual that explains how far to unscrew the top before pouring to avoid drips.

Technivorm KBT-741 Moccamaster polished silver Coffee Maker 1.25-L. Review

I just got this and must say it does the job ( hence the 5 of 5)of delivering the hot water to the coffee and brewing very good coffee, but it hasquirksI'm not appreciating inmy morning coffee brewing routine.First after its finished brewing there is still 1/2 cup of water in the "plumbing" which requires you to tip the pot over and empty very hot water out, other wiseyou'll be starting with stale water and perhaps accelerating the scaling,
second the foot plate does not "lock in" as they say so when you lift the pot to move it( or empty it)it does fall off ,
third to my dismay the thermal jug will require a brush to keep clean as the mouth is too narrow to get your hand in there to scrub( this is also a VERYBIGproblem with my Capresso thermal),
fourth since the top of the thermal jug does not fitback in under the coffee basket when its on thejug I'm tryig to figure out where to keep everything so not to use up extracounter space nor lose the top
Fifth asIslide itaround on the counter top( out to be used and backinwhen not) the feet are leaving some marks ( which come up with cleaning) on the granite countertop.
and last it seems for few dollars more they could have included a circuit to turn it self off when its done brewing, rather than leaving it to the early morning harried coffee drinker to remembertoswitch it off. So yes very good coffee, butthe quirks are on par with the ones you deal with with a french press ( which is much cheaper)

Kalorik USKTKM2 10 Cup Programamable Coffee Maker Review

"Kalorik coffee maker looks and works great. 40.5oz. stainless thermos carafe is nice but wouldn't call it 10 cups. The cone type filters(none included)seem to use less coffee. The 24hr digital clock with program timer is easy to set. Hot plate has 2hr auto shut-off. Great coffee maker for the price and it looks like it would be a much more expensive model."

Black & Decker CM1509 8-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe Review

We bought this coffee maker about 5 days ago and were immediately and continuously disappointed. The carafe keeps the coffee tepid at best. There is no heating element on the coffee maker. From the moment coffee is made (not very hot) it gets cold. Within 30 minutes it is not drinkable. Additionally, the reservoir fill markers are easy to see but it is very, very difficult to see the water level. Unless you look directly into the coffee maker reservoir or pour the water into the reservoir from some premeasured container, it is almost impossible to determine how much water is in the reservoir.

I think this is a great buy.I live alone.For me, the 4 cup machines were just too small and the 12 cup were too big.I also did not want a machine with a hot plate since they burn the coffee and make it taste bitter.I was happy with the $10 B&D single cup machine which I kept at my desk at work. This was the cheapest Carafe machine I could find ($29.99 at Target).

I am a bit of a coffee geek.I home roast my own coffee beans.Grind my beans right before I brew my coffee.I have not checked it with a thermometer, but this brews at a close to ideal temperature. I am using about 7-8 grams per cup and find it makes a good strong cup of coffee.The brew cycle is on the slow side, but for me that is good. The slower brew makes for a better extraction. I use a mesh basket and have not had a major problem with the grinds overflowing into the coffee.This has been a big issue with other machines I have owned.But by keeping the water coming at a decent speed, it seems OK with this machine.

The carafe does a fair job at keeping the coffee hot.After 4-5 hours and three mugs, the coffee is still at a good hot drinkable temperature.The outside of the carafe stays cool to the touch.Yes a hot plate machine would keep it hotter, but after an hour or two, the coffee would be burnt.

I will offer one tip for hotter coffee.Either rinse or or let the carafe sit for a few minutes with hot top tap water right before brewing.This will preheat the carafe a bit and make a few degrees difference in your coffee.

I know there are a lot of negative reviews on this I will try to address some of the points.

The Machine Flooded my Counter:
This is not the machines fault.You did not have the carafe properly seated in the machine.This can be a problem with any machine where you stop brewing to serve a cup.Cuisinart machines are even worse at this.But if you make sure the carafe is seated correctly, you will not have a problem.Also if you fill it above the 8 cup level, the carafe will overflow.

Hot Plate did not work:
Thermal Carafe machines generally do not have hotplates.Plus hot plates generally have auto shut off now.So after a couple of hours, your coffee will in addition to taste burnt, will cool quickly.This machinekeeps your coffee for 4-6 hours without tasting burnt.

Coffee tastes bitter or metallic:
Make sure to rinse after each use. Try cleaning it with sudsy water and the occasional soak with white vinegar and water.

Timer is tough to use:
Read the owners manual.It is not rocket science.It is like programing a digital alarm clock.

Yes there can be bad machines that do not brew at the right temp.But most of the bad reviews for this product are the result of user error and not due to a design defect.

For the money, this is a great buy in a thermal carafe drip Machine.There are no major flaws.It looks good on the counter, and keeps the coffee hot for a few hours.For $30-$40 I think this machine is a steal!!!

Zojirushi ECBD15 Fresh Brew Stainless Steel Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker w/ Decalcifier Review

First, if you are interested in this coffee maker.Buy the EC-BD15.Amazon has it for about $68 and free shipping.It is the same as the EC-BD15BA.We bought the EC-BD15.OurEC-BD15 had an inserted sheet in the instruction manual that corrects the manual by replacing the #3 filter wording for the #4 filter wording.The #4 filter fits fine, no cutting or anything.Apparently the the EC-BD15BA has the wording corrected in the manual and prints it on the box.If that is worth the difference in cost then go for it.It really just looks like a translation problem for the American market that uses #4 filters.
The coffee maker is exactly 15 inches tall.So make sureyou have room under a cabinet if you store it there. My wife says the coffee stays hotter than in our old Mr Coffee thermal model. This caraffe is unbreakable because it is solid steel.No glass insert like our old Mr Coffee.
