Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DCC-1200FR Brew Central 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless Steel Review

Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DCC-1200FR Brew Central 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless SteelWould I buy this coffee maker for the full price of the new model? Probably not. But the reconditioned one is a great value.
It looks great, as is apparent from the photo. Keep in mind, though, that as a reconditioned unit, it may have some minor blemishes to its appearance. Mine, for example, has a very small dent in the stainless steel on its left side. It's not noticable unless you're looking for it, and that alone wouldn't keep me from recommending this coffee maker. (Also, as previous reviewers have noted, this model does NOT come with a permanent filter like the new model does.)
What's a little iffier about it, though, are a couple strange design issues that affect usability.
Every coffee maker I've ever owned has had a flip-top carafe--but not this one. You have to physically remove the lid to pour water into the carafe--a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless.
You need the carafe to measure water, because there's no water-level indicator on the coffee maker itself. Additionally, the water filter takes up a lot of the space under the lid, meaning that there's a relatively small space to pour the water into from the carafe. It's enough room that someone without any mobility problems shouldn't have any issues getting the water in, but it takes a little getting used to.
Overall, I'd recommend the reconditioned model of the Brew Central. It's not so great that I'd replace it with another one of the same model if it became unusable, but good enough that I'm glad to have it on the counter.

Kalorik CCG-19322 1000-Watt 10-Cup Coffeemaker with Built-In Grinder, Stainless Steel Review

Kalorik CCG-19322 1000-Watt 10-Cup Coffeemaker with Built-In Grinder, Stainless SteelWe waited six weeks for the product and we were very unhappy with it. The grider did a very poor job of grinding the beans. Afer rereading the directions several times to ensure we were operating it properly, without success, we returned the coffee maker.

Coffee Maker, 4 Cup White Review

Coffee Maker, 4 Cup WhiteI am a modest coffee drinker. I drink 4 cups a day, and I require little of a coffeemaker other than an on/off button. My last perfectly servicable Mr. Coffee 4-cup machine bit the dust, so I replaced it with this one, because at least I could re-use the carafe.
Well, the internal design guys have been at the guts of this one. First, you can no longer remove, rinse and/or wipe down the internal chamber condensation from your last pot. You have to insert a papertowel into the new internal resevoir, scraping your hand on some internal parts that probably weren't meant to be messed with. They have likewise redesigned the basket, and it barely fits the standard coffee filters anymore, without crinkling and leaving grounds in your pot, and, hey, the internal water resevoir, where it has no business backwashing anyway. And god forbid you should try to make 5 cups in your 4-cup machine, for which there is plenty of room in the carafe, and in the resevoir, and which works well in many other 4-cup machines. My coffee maker lives on top of my microwave on a little shelf, by the toaster oven, because I have no counterspace for it. I have to lift it out some 10 inches, fill it up, insert the basket, and put it back on the microwave to process. I have mastered the art of moving a fully water loaded machine the little bit required. This one sloshes water everywhere. From the top of the machine? No! There's an engineered HOLE in the back of the reservoir to keep you from overfilling the chamber that last little bit. Water fountains everywhere from the center back part of the machine. I suppose I could put a piece of duct tape over it, but who wants duct tape in their coffee. Good God.

I will be replacing my machine shortly, then gleefully smashing my carafes on the driveway.

Cuisinart 12-cup Coffee Maker - Stainless Steel with 30 Paper Filters Review

Cuisinart 12-cup Coffee Maker - Stainless Steel with 30 Paper FiltersThis unit is a step-down from the DCC1200 model. It doesn't have the self-cleaning feature and doesn't include a gold reusable filter (but it can use one if bought separately). However, its lower price makes it well worth it, as all the most important features are included such as the variable auto shut-off and drip-less carafe (the carafe really works well, it pours better than any other coffee maker I've owned). The one drawback (shared by the DCC1200 model) is that the water level in the tank can be a bit hard to see. Overall, this is an excellent coffee maker that will not disappoint whether you use it just occasionally or every day.

Cuisinart DGB-300 Automatic Grind and Brew 10-Cup Coffeemaker Review

Cuisinart DGB-300 Automatic Grind and Brew 10-Cup CoffeemakerFrankly, I'm a little surprised at the wide range of reviews here for this coffeemaker.
Yes, the coffeemaker does have to be cleaned after every brewing. No, it doesn't make bad coffee. No, you can't just dump coffee beans or ground coffee into the coffeemaker and make good coffee automatically.
The Coffee Bar, as Cuisinart likes to call it, does have several internal parts which must all be in place before you can brew coffee. You can use ground coffee, but you're defeating the purpose of the Coffee Bar by doing so.The grinder compartment can hold enough beans to make 10 strong 6-oz cups of coffee which is what "10-cup" usually means with appliances.I like my coffee very strong and I've been able to load more than enough beans into the coffeemaker to get the strength of coffee I want.
Between the grinder and the attached drain basket is an attached screen through which the ground beans goes through and an inserted gold basket filter which must be in place in order to make coffee. On top of all of this is a cover which fits over the basket into which hot water is pumped up over the grounds and then drips down into your fresh grounds.
On this cover, there is a dial setting which you must set each and ever time depending on the amount (and what I've discovered -- strength) of the coffee you want to have. Finally, this entire assembly is covered by a lid attached to the rear of the coffeemaker and latches in front.
The entire internal assembly MUST be cleaned after each and every brewing. So, yes, if you make multiple pots, you need to clean it each time.(However, is this any different than any other coffee appliance?)
There are additional settings on the front of the coffeemaker that also affect the quality of the coffee; so, basically, the coffeemaker is NOT intuitive and you have to read the instruction manual before you start brewing coffee with this appliance.
All of that said, this coffeemaker makes EXCELLENT coffee.I own two of them, because I originally purchased the version in white, because it was all that was available. When the version in black became available, I bought a second one. Both are still in excellent working condition and I haven't had any problem with either.
The Cuisinart Coffee Bar is a little pricey, but it does make great coffee and I heartily recommend it.

Cuisinart Coffee Maker & Grinder - Thermal Carafe - Stainless steel Review

Cuisinart Coffee Maker and Grinder - Thermal Carafe - Stainless steelWe just got this coffee pot at Costco for $99 and LOVE IT! It takes a little more work getting set up than our old Mr. Coffee pot. You have to clean the grinding components each time for optimal taste - that is why I only gave it 4 stars. But the extra time is worth it. The coffee tastes amazing and it is ready when we wake up in the morning. I haven't experienced any leaking problems like I have heard about.

Cuisinart 10-cup Programmable Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker Review

Cuisinart 10-cup Programmable Thermal Carafe Coffee MakerBought this at Costco as replacement for a Cuisinart DCC-1200 which was great, although it only lasted about 5 years. The only Cuisinart they had now was this thermal one, so we decided to give it a try.

First let me point out some pros:

- Compact, "slim" design size fits well on the counter.

- The "tilt-up" lid doesn't drip water on the coffee maker and counter when you open it...on our old DCC-1200 with "side-hinged" lid we always had to place a towel around the bottom to catch the drips.

And I think that just about does it for the positives.

Now on to the bad stuff:

- The taste has some kind of funk to it...no matter what we did, coffee just doesn't taste as good as the old maker.

- Pouring the coffee...who would ever think that the simple act of just pouring coffee into a mug would be an issue? Well, it is with this POS. Even when full/nearly-full, coffee just sorta trickles out. And then once it's less than ~1/2 pot, you have to do this weird lean with your body and contortion of your wrist to an unnatural degree to get the coffee to pour.

- Not that it's a deal-breaker, but would it be such a big deal to put a clock on these things that's actually visible?I can go buy a $10 watch that will have a blue or green backlight...why can't they do that for a $50 coffee maker?

- But the NUMBER ONE gripe is coffee that you would call "hot" only in the academic sense that right after brewing it might give your lip a very slight sensation of heat. But it's not nearly "hot" in the way most people would describe "hot coffee." And then after it's been sitting for a half-hour or so? Forget it, you WILL be putting it in the microwave.

And yes, for those Mr. Helpers who respond to complaints about the lukewarm coffee, even though it's not in the instruction manual, Cuisinart does have a recommendation out there to "pre-heat" the carafe. Just some quick thoughts on that...

1) We've got jobs, kids...we're busy in the mornings and don't need yet one more chore just to make a stupid pot of coffee.

2) We like to use the auto-brew feature...someone let me know how the whole "preheating" thing is supposed to work if the point of using the programmable feature is to not have to do anything with your coffee in the morning except pour it. Speaking of pouring, did I mention this carafe sucks in the pouring dept?

3) We've tried it, and preheating makes only a marginal difference. You're still drinking iced coffee within an hour.

Probably goes without saying that this will be returned and we'll probably get another DCC-1200 from Amazon.
