Pasquini Livia 90 Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Recently my La Pavoni broke down after 3 years, so I had to look for another machine. My machine of choice for espresso has always been Cimballi, but I was not impressed with any of their machines, which did not require a water line. After some searching and recommendation from a friend I happened upon the Pasquini Livia 90.

As far as espresso machines go, the Pasquini Livia 90 is the best unit that does not require a water line.The water resevoir holds a very large amount of water and the espresso made with this machine is simply amazing.

A good espresso should have a thick layer of creme on top (goldish brown in color) which will hold the sugar poured in to the coffee afloat for a few seconds.The Pasquini Livia 90 was the first machine I've owned to accomplish the feat.I've owned a $700 Krups Fully Automated Machine, used a $3,000 Fully Automated Machine and owned the La Pavoni fully manual machine.However, the Pasquini was the only machine to provide the perfect creme.

The steam produced by the machine will froth milk for any of the popular espresso drinks and the ability to draw hot water from the unit is also a nice touch.Unlike some machines you can leave the unit on for long periods of time without having to worry about burning out the machine.

Saeco Renaissance Renaissance Glass Coffeemaker 55-oz. Review

Got the coffee maker for only $58 at our local Sam's Club-looks like it was a special for the holidays.
Real easy clock. Super strong glass (10 cups).
1000 watts - coffee hot enough.
Takes a few min to brew - but with the programable clock no problem.
Basket filter - NOT cone shape- ( oh well ).
The clock shows you how long the coffee has been sittin since it was brewed...neat.
Looks great on counter and plug wire stores in the back of maker.

CONS: Stays real wet inside...with dew....all day...kind of weird?

Would say it was well worth what I paid!

Hamilton Beach 43501H 12 Cup Proctor-Silex Coffeemaker Review

I've had this coffee maker for about a week and have used it every morning.It works just fine - quiet, simple, very basic.I especially appreciate the black fill markings inside where the water goes, this is so helpful to those of us with not-so-great vision.The only thing that I wish it had is a removeable lid on the carafe.Washing and drying the carafe would be so much easier if the lid snapped off.I've tried gently to take it from its hinge but it does not come away and I don't want to force it.UPDATE - I am now able to remove the lid for ease of washing and rinsing.I just had to sort of force it off one day and it has gotten easier now to take off and put back on.If they had said the lid was removeable in the instructions I would have tried sooner.

Hamilton Beach Stay Or Go Coffeemaker, Clock Review

Originally bought one of these for my mother after her beloved Mr. Coffee finally went to its' maker.After reading many reviews, I felt fairly confident purchasing it for her.She makes a pot in the morning, and has a cup or two before work.With the thermos, the same pot is still plenty hot when she comes home from work and, she claims, as good as the first cup.Well, I got deployed to a warm and sandy place (I'm Army, guess where), and decided to get a new maker to replace the piece of cr*p the previous tenants were using, and ordered the #45224 for myself and my crew.It arrived promptly, considering (thank you Amazon!) and was soon pressed into heavy duty service.Thought the thermos would be useful, but frankly, a pot of coffee doesn't stay full for long here.But so far it's performed like a champ, making 8 to 10 pots a day.We use bottled water exclusively, so didn't bother with the filter.Our only quibbles are there's no way to tell if the thermos is empty till you pour that last drop.Also, the brew light is fairly dim, and unless the pot is directly in front of you, difficult to see under florescent lighting.However, everything else about the machine is excellent.I'd write a nice review on the included mugs, but the CG took a shine to one of them and it's now in his office, and I couldn't even begin to guess where the other one went (things that are good tend to "get legs" around here).I will be buying this maker again in the future.

Cuisinart Grind & Brew 10-cup Automatic Coffeemaker DCC-690PC Review

I just purchased the Cuisinart Grind and Brew. The coffee really tastes great. The only problem that I have is that the unit must be cleaned after each use. Sure, it is easy to clean, but it does take more time than non-grind type units.Condensation forms in the grinding area, and the coffee grounds stick. Grounds also stick to the area where the coffee is blown into the filter.
Bottom line, the coffee is good. Just know that you have some cleaning to do. I think it is a flaw in the design. There is no where for the condensation to go from the heated water,so it forms in the grind area.

Bosch : TCA6301UC Benvenuto B30 Gourmet Coffee/Espresso Machine - Anthracite Review

The Bosch Benvenuto B30 is an exceptional coffee maker. We used to have a fully automatic Saeco model for the past 9 years, but it recently started leaking and so we decided to get a new machine.

Before buying the Benvenuto B30, we researched quite a few machines: The Saeco models we saw on store display didn't strike us as too well-made. Our old one was largely metal but we found the new models to be made of relatively flimsy-feeling plastic. We then looked at the Jura machines but ultimately decided against them due to their high prices, reviews we read that the coffee isn't made hot enough, and also because Jura machines only allow for three different coffee strength settings - weak, medium, and strong. We wanted more choices.

Having had experience with these types of machines for almost 10 years, we knew what we wanted: a height-adjustable spout, the possibility to use both beans and ground coffee, a relatively quiet operation, and an intelligent design which would tell us when to refill water, beans, when to clean, descale, etc. The B30 does all that and more. Moreover, it offers stylish design and is very well made.

The machine does not take long to reach its required operating temperature and the electronic display informs you when it is ready. The coffee strength can be adjusted from mild to extra-strong. Furthermore, the amount of water can be adjusted to accomodate small Espresso cups, XXL coffee mugs and pretty much everything in-between.

Undoubtedly the best feature is the height-adjustable spout, or rather spouts (the B30 has 2) which let you brew 2 cups of coffee simultaneously - a huge time-saver in the morning! We found that although the height can only be adjusted by little over 4 inches, there is no problem to use cups higher than that. This is due to the clever design that gives ample and easy access to the spouts from the side as well as from the front - we just move the cups under the spouts holding them at a slight angle. With our old Saeco machine, we always had to remove the grille and tray to be able to accomodate larger mugs.

Another very nice feature is that the water temperature can be adjusted. At the Maximum setting, the coffee is piping hot - very useful when adding cold frothed milk to it because with other machines, this makes the coffee too cold to be enjoyable. The B30 even has a heated top grille for pre-heating your coffee mugs!

And if all of that weren't enough, the machine even has an automatic timer function to automatically turn itself on at a pre-set time, and turn itself off again after a set number of hours.

In summary, this machine is incredibly easy to operate, fast and makes excellent coffee in all kinds of strengths and sizes. An integrated steamer to froth milk, etc. is of course standard.

The only other thing I would like to mention is that if you are a larger family of coffee lovers, you may find the water tank to be a bit on the small side. In our house we're just two people and find that we have to refill the tank every day after just 2 - 3 cups of XXL-size coffee. Then again: This also ensures that the water is always fresh and not stale from sitting in the tank for too long. So you be the judge whether this is a negative or not.

I whole-heartedly recommend this machine which in my opinion offers a lot more than the overpriced Jura machines, especially when it comes to flexibility!
